4. How does Mosquito
work? |
| |
The Mosquito generates a really annoying tone
that is audible to young people, but not to
adults. The system exploits a small change in
hearing at the end of our teenage years.
Teenagers are acutely aware of the sound and
usually move away from the area within a few
minutes.

|
5. Should Mosquito remain switched on
24 hours day ? |
| |
Mosquito should only be switched on at the
times of day it is required, and only for the
period it is required.
|
|
6. What are the running costs for a
Mosquito system? |
| |
The Mosquito uses less electricity than a
normal domestic light bulb.
|
|
7. Are there any legal issues
affecting Mosquito installation?
|
| |
The manufacturers have commissioned a
detailed investigation into the legal situation
which has identified that there is minimal risk
of legal implications.
|
|
8. Can the Mosquito cause hearing
injury? |
| |
The Unit has been tested to make sure it
complies with HSE
report 343/2001. This report, issued by the
Health and Safety Executive, lists safe sound
levels for various environments. The Mosquito
generates sound below the volume that is
considered safe for exposures of more than 1
hour.
|
|
9. How big is a Mosquito?
|
| |
A Mosquito unit is 185mm across, 145mm down
and 120mm deep. It is a similar size to a
domestic security light
|
|
10. Is it easy to install a
Mosquito? |
| |
The Mosquito is supplied with mounting
bracket, power supply, cable, time switch and
instructions and so can be self-installed.
However we recommend professional fitting to
ensure a safe and robust installation delivering
efficient performance and long life.
In addition, installations complying with our
Code of
Practice provide additional
reassurance.

|
11. How can I prevent my Mosquito
from being vandalised? |
| |
We recommend the Mosquito unit is mounted
high enough to be out of reach. We also
recommend the unit is protected by a security
cage to prevent vandalism.
Purpose made security cages are available
from AIS for a small additional charge.
