We were approached by a housing association that were being troubled almost daily with their main door being kicked down by local offenders during the late evening hours, despite them being locked. They were using the premises to make illegal radio broadcasts. The housing association needed a quick solution that would not “break the bank” and keep their premises secure.
After conducting a survey and assessing various factors such as geographic location of the premises, entry points and current security systems, we recommended installing a maglock on the door. A maglock is a full-length magnetic lock that is electronically controlled. Not only is it cost-effective in the long-term, but it is an extremely sturdy system. Even if an attempt is made to force it open with a crowbar, it will often do little or no damage to the door or lock. As it’s electronically controlled, it will only open if the power is switched off.
Since installation of the maglock, we have not received any call-outs to the housing association. In fact, we were informed by the manager that instances of the door being kicked down have now ceased completely. This is exactly the outcome we had hoped for; providing a long-term, cost-effective solution to our customer.
